Terracotta Forest Elf 🍂

A warm set in a “forest palette” combining a brown cardigan with openwork lanes, terracotta pants, a bonnet and two-colour booties. The stockinette is very even, the ribs look springy, and the wooden buttons harmonize with the natural tones. The contrasting ties on the booties and the soft pointed silhouette of the bonnet are especially expressive. The fit of the set is neat, although the folds of the cardigan and the model’s pose hide some side seams and the back finishing. The work looks professional, cohesive and suitable for a newborn photo shoot.

The cardigan is worked in stockinette stitch with regular small openwork motifs: the holes are most likely formed by a combination of yarn overs and knit-togethers. The lower edge should have an elastic edging or ties, though this area is partially hidden. The booties combine garter stitch or dense stockinette with contrasting brown inserts. The sole is shaped by increases around a central line; the toe is formed by successive decreases. The terracotta cords are likely made with a crochet chain of chain stitches or a knitted i-cord. Final finishing includes weaving in ends, gentle washing, blocking of pieces and sewing on the wooden buttons with reinforced thread.

Hand wash or machine wash on a "Wool" cycle at 30 °C, placing the set in a laundry bag. Use a liquid detergent without bleach or enzymes, do not soak for long and do not use fabric conditioner. Spin at low speed or blot carefully with a towel without wringing. Dry flat away from radiators and direct sunlight, shaping the bands, cuffs, bonnet crown and bootie form. Do not tumble dry. Ironing is not recommended; light steaming through a cloth without pressing the iron is acceptable. Check button and tie security before each use. Store clean and completely dry, preferably with a safe moth deterrent.
