Lavender Sonya 🎀

A sweet little doll in a soft pink dress and bonnet attracts with a clean look and a calm combination of powder pink and muted lilac. A large round face without embroidered features gives the toy an unusual, almost fairytale character. The wavy hem of the dress, a voluminous bow and contrasting hands, feet and ears create pleasant decorative accents. The fabric is fairly dense, however the body shows enlarged gaps between stitches, and the symmetry of the arms and side elements could be improved. The piece is heartfelt and recognizable, but for a professional level it needs neater shaping and a cleaner presentation.

The toy is crocheted mostly in continuous rounds (spiral). Main pieces begin with an amigurumi ring, after which volume is formed with even increases. The face is worked as a flat circle in lilac yarn, most likely in half double crochet or tight double crochet stitches. That piece is then joined to the back of the head and stuffed. The join between rounds is visible in places, so when repeating the pattern use a stitch marker and work staggered increases. The body is worked top-down in single crochet. The skirt increase is achieved with several rounds of increases, and the lower edge is finished with a lacy scalloped edging: groups of double crochet alternate with slip stitches or single crochet. The contrasting dots above the hem are formed by elongated stitches or lilac loops introduced into a single decorative round. Because a bulky hook was used, noticeable gaps appeared between the body stitches; a denser gauge would improve appearance and shape stability. Arms, legs and rounded side pieces are made separately following amigurumi technique, stuffed and sewn to the body with hidden stitches. The bonnet is a wide pink band wrapped around the head. Its top is finished with a voluminous bow made from a crocheted strip gathered at the center. Assembly was done by hand, without plastic safety eyes or small hardware. For a more professional finish, pair elements should be pinned symmetrically first, check fit on the toy and then sew, inserting the needle between stitches. After assembly it helps to gently arrange the skirt and give the stuffing its final shape.

Hand wash gently at no more than 30 °C with a liquid detergent without bleach. Do not soak for long, do not scrub with a brush and do not wring. After washing gently press out water with your palms, then blot with a towel. Dry flat away from heaters and direct sunlight, turning periodically and restoring the shape of the stuffing. Do not use a tumble dryer, iron or hot steam: the plush pile can crush or melt. Small stains are best removed locally with a damp cloth.
