Chef Mice 🐭

A charming duo of pastry-chef mice immediately wins you over with expressive faces and a cozy plush texture. The gray and lavender characters are harmoniously tied together with soft-pink paws, ears and noses, and voluminous white chef hats give them a playful professional look. The dense fabric holds the rounded shape of the bodies well; increases are executed neatly and parts are sewn on fairly cleanly. The large shiny eyes and embroidered teeth are especially successful. A small difference in facial symmetry and a slightly untidy direction of the whiskers are noticeable but do not detract from the toys' charm.

Toys are crocheted in the round using amigurumi technique with bulky plush yarn. The main fabric is worked in single crochet stitches through both loops, without joining seams between rounds. Rounded bodies and heads are formed by evenly distributed increases, then by symmetrical invisible decreases. With this type of yarn stitches are harder to read, so a row-start marker and constant recounting are especially important. Paws, ears, tails and muzzles are made as separate pieces. Inner ear panels and paw tips are crocheted in pink yarn; color changes are made in areas that are mostly hidden during assembly. Pieces are stuffed unevenly: bodies and heads are relatively firm, while paws are softer for mobility. Heads are sewn to bodies with mattress or slip stitches using the same plush yarn. Chef hats consist of a fitted brim and a widened top with textured concentric rounds. Volume is created with increases and subsequent evening of the fabric; the brim is secured around the head. Faces are finished with safety eyes with shiny irises, applied noses, and an embroidered mouth and teeth. Whiskers are made from stiff thread or fine fishing line. After assembly, the eye and nose areas are cinched to give the faces a lively, slightly cartoonish expression.

Gentle hand wash recommended at up to 30 °C with a liquid detergent without bleach. Do not soak for long, rub or wring. After washing gently blot with a terry towel, reshape paws, ears, faces and hats. Dry flat away from heaters and direct sunlight, turning occasionally. Tumble drying, ironing and steaming are prohibited: high temperatures damage plush pile and plastic parts. Dust can be removed with a soft brush or a vacuum on low suction. Regularly check the security of eyes, whiskers and sewn-on elements.
