Sunny Giraffe Zhuja 🦒

A sunny giraffe with a kind face and a cozy gray-beige scarf turned out expressive and recognizable. The dense fabric made from single crochet stitches holds its shape well, the stuffing is distributed fairly evenly, and the calm combination of yellow, cream and gray-beige looks harmonious. The large ears, voluminous muzzle and contrasting hooves are particularly successful. Slight asymmetry of the ossicones and attachment points slightly reduces neatness, but the toy is overall made confidently and gives a warm impression.

The toy is crocheted using amigurumi technique, mainly single crochet stitches worked through both loops. The head, body, muzzle and legs are worked in continuous spirals without slip stitches or turning chains. Shape is created with symmetric increases, and transitions to narrower sections use even invisible decreases. A stitch marker is necessary to track the beginning of rounds. Fabric density is appropriate: the stuffing is barely visible between stitches. The head has a rounded-oval shape; the muzzle is crocheted as a separate piece and sewn on around the edge. The ears start from an oval base and are slightly folded when secured, giving a natural curve. The ossicones consist of narrow yellow stems and gray-beige rounded tips. Legs are worked from the bottom up with a color change for the hooves; the torso and neck are likely made as separate pieces and then firmly assembled. The tail is finished with a contrasting tassel or a short crocheted tip. The scarf is crocheted in back-and-forth rows with a relief texture, likely half double crochets or single crochets worked through the back loop. All elements are stuffed gradually with small amounts of fiberfill to preserve an even surface. Assembly is done with a sewing needle using the same yarn, securing ends carefully inside parts. Plastic safety eyes are inserted before final stuffing of the head; for a child under three years it is safer to use firm embroidery instead.

Hand wash gently at temperatures no higher than 30 °C with a mild liquid detergent without bleach. Do not soak for long, rub vigorously, wring out or wash with items that have zippers or Velcro. After rinsing, gently press with a towel, arrange ears, ossicones, legs and scarf. Dry flat in a well-ventilated area away from radiators and direct sunlight, turning periodically. Tumble drying and ironing are forbidden. Regularly check the firmness of eyes and sewn-on parts before giving to a child.
