Lemon Butterfly Bunny 🦋

The pink lop-eared bunny turned out soft, good-natured and expressive. The body, long legs and voluminous ears are knit in stockinette stitch, while the more textured feet add a cozy “plush” look to the silhouette. Blue eyes, a brown nose and an embroidered red smile create a slightly naive character. A bright yellow bow contrasts well with the dusty-pink yarn, and a decorative butterfly supports the springtime theme. The knitting overall is neat, but the assembly, symmetry of the face and shaping of some details require more careful finishing.

The toy was most likely made with knitting needles as separate pieces, then stuffed and assembled. The main fabric of the body, head, arms and ears is worked in stockinette: knit stitches on right-side rows and purl stitches on wrong-side rows. Vertical stitches are clearly visible on the belly and limbs. Shaping of volume was achieved with increases and decreases along edges or along marked lines. The head has a rounded shape due to gradual widening of the piece and symmetrical decrease of stitches at the top. The long ears are knit as elongated pieces with rounded ends, then sewn to the crown. The body and limbs are stuffed with polyester filling; the legs are attached with a seam that allows the toy to sit. The feet show a more pronounced texture: this could have been created with garter stitch, alternating knit and purl rows, or selecting stitches when binding off the piece. Joins were executed with a darning/ mattress needle, although attachment points for the arms and ear bases remain slightly noticeable. The face is finished with a combination of techniques. Ready-made plastic or acrylic eyes and nose are secured to the knitted fabric; the mouth is embroidered with red thread using a stem stitch or short straight stitches, and the eyebrows with dark thread. To achieve stable, symmetrical eye placement, it is useful to pre-tighten the muzzle. A satin bow is tied around the neck, and a textile butterfly is attached to the ear as a decorative accent. Final steam/heat-and-moisture blocking of individual pieces before stuffing would help even out the stitches and soften seams.

Hand wash gently at up to 30 °C with a liquid detergent for wool or delicate fabrics. Do not soak for long, scrub vigorously, wring out or wash together with items that have Velcro. After rinsing, gently blot with a towel, restore the shape of the body, legs and ears. Dry flat away from radiators, heaters and direct sunlight, turning occasionally. Do not use bleach or tumble dry. The bow should be reshaped by hand; before washing check the security of the butterfly, eyes and nose attachments. Dust can be removed with a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner on the lowest setting using a protective mesh.
