Lemon Floral Dream 🌼

A delicate set for a baby combining a milk-colored cardigan with miniature floral embroidery, a beanie hat, gray-beige pants, and booties with ties. Smooth stockinette stitch, neat ribbing and a calm natural palette create the impression of high-quality handwork. The delicate lilac, pink, yellow and green accents are especially successful, and the wooden buttons add coziness. The fit looks comfortable, the stitches are worked consistently; only the cardigan button band and the collar area could be made a bit more shape-stable.

The set is worked predominantly with knitting needles from medium- or fine-weight yarn. The main fabric of the cardigan, pants and hat is worked in stockinette: in circular knitting all stitches are knit, while in back-and-forth rows knit and purl rows alternate. The gauge appears consistent, without noticeable tension lines from yarn changes. The cardigan has a classic construction with a front opening. The button bands are picked up along the front edges or worked together with the main fabric as a 1×1 rib. The hem, cuffs and hat edge are also finished with an elastic 1×1 rib. Sleeve and armhole shaping was likely achieved with increases and decreases while maintaining a tidy edge. The stand collar is either worked separately or picked up around the neckline and then attached neatly. The floral motifs are applied on top of the finished fabric as decorative embroidery. It appears surface embroidery techniques were used such as satin stitch, French knots or short radial stitches forming small buds. This approach does not disturb the stockinette structure and allows free placement of color accents. Buttonholes are worked on one band, and the wooden buttons are sewn opposite at equal intervals. The pants are worked in the round from the bottom up or from the waist down with anatomical widening at the gusset area. The booties are shaped in garter stitch and stockinette: first the sole is worked, then stitches are picked up around the perimeter and the toe and cuff are shaped. Cords are made as an i-cord (tube cord) or twisted yarn. After assembly the garments received a gentle wet-blocking/steam treatment without strong stretching.

Hand wash or machine wash on the wool cycle at 30 °C, turning garments inside out and placing them in a laundry bag. Use a liquid wool detergent without bleach or optical brighteners. Do not soak for long, do not rub the embroidery and do not wring. Spin at minimal speed or blot with a towel. Dry flat on a dry towel, shaping the bands, collar, cuffs and booties beforehand. Do not dry on a radiator or in direct sunlight. Do not use tumble drying. If needed, steam from the wrong side through a cloth, avoiding pressing the iron onto ribs and raised embroidery. Before each use check the security of buttons, embroidery and ties.
