Mint Bunny 🐇

The airy set “Mint Bunny” is designed for the first months of a baby’s life. A turquoise cardigan with raglan shaping, lace panels and a convenient asymmetrical closure is complemented by white pants, booties and a delicate bonnet with ties. The stockinette looks even, the ribs hold their shape, and the bands are finished neatly. White buttons support the overall fresh palette. The composition with a bunny and flowers conveys the mood of the piece well, although part of the pants and booties are obscured by props. The work is technically strong and cohesive, but the model itself is based on a fairly traditional baby set design.

The cardigan is knit top-down with raglan shaping: a stretch 1x1 rib is cast on at the neckline, then stitches are distributed between the front panels, back and sleeves. It is formed by yarn-overs and stitches worked together with directional decreases. The motif rhythm is kept quite consistently. The hem, cuffs and neckline are worked in rib so the edges do not roll. The sleeves taper smoothly due to even decreases. The pants are worked in stockinette with lace elements and were likely made either as separate pieces worked from the bottom up or in the round after joining the legs. The waistband should contain elastic or a drawstring, but that area is covered by the cardigan. The white bonnet combines textured knitting, lace and an edging finished either by crochet or knitting; earflaps transition into ties. The booties are knitted more tightly than the other items: the sole is shaped with increases and decreases, the upper is gathered around the foot, and the cuff is stabilized with textured knitting. Final finishing includes weaving in ends, sewing on buttons, wet-heat treatment and gentle blocking without stretching the ribs.

Hand wash is recommended or use a delicate machine cycle at 30 °C inside a laundry bag. Use a liquid detergent for baby wool or delicate fabrics without bleach or fabric softener. Do not soak for long, do not rub the lace and do not wring. After washing, gently press out water using a towel, shape pieces to measurements and dry flat away from radiators and direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry. If needed, steam from the wrong side through a damp cloth, avoiding direct contact with ribs. Check buttons and ties before each wear.
