Knitting method and techniques

Worked in crochet using bulky textured (plush/bouclé) yarn. The construction is classic for baby booties: first a toe-heel "cup" is formed with increases, then the sole/base is crocheted in an oval with even increases in the toe and heel areas. After reaching the required height, switching to working in the back loop only creates a clear fold line between the sole and the sides. Decorative bands are made by changing yarn color; due to the furry texture the color transitions look soft but require especially careful weaving in of ends. Finish: edges are formed without a firm edging, decoration consists of satin ribbons tied into bows and sewn-on beads/buttons as the bow center. Assembly includes stitching on the decorations and securing the ribbons; for children's items it is important to additionally reinforce attachment points and, if possible, avoid small removable parts.

Care instructions

Washing: hand wash or delicate cycle at 30°C in a laundry bag, use liquid detergent without bleach. Do not rub or wring (plush yarn loses pile). Rinse in cool water. Drying: blot with a towel, dry flat on a surface while shaping; do not dry on a radiator or in direct sunlight. Special: before use check the strength of sewn-on ribbons and beads; for ages 0–12 months it's better to replace small decorations with embroidery. Store dry, do not compress with heavy items to avoid matting the pile.
