A lilac set for a baby transformed into a small blooming garden: a romper with long puff sleeves, a tie-on bonnet and an additional hat are united by a smooth texture and neat ribbing. The central placket is decorated with buttons, and voluminous yellow-orange rosettes with green leaves create a striking contrast. The fabric appears even, increases and decreases are executed cleanly, and the frills lie fairly symmetrically. A single decorative motif across all pieces is particularly well maintained. Minor creases after laying out and a large signature label slightly distract from the lovely work.

Метод вязания и техники

The set is knitted with needles predominantly in stockinette stitch: knit stitches on right-side rows, purl stitches on wrong-side rows. The sleeve and leg cuffs, neckline edge, lower parts of the headwear and the plackets are worked in a 1×1 rib. This combination yields a smooth main fabric and an elastic fit without excess bulk. From visible signs the pieces are knitted from bottom up with sequential shaping of sleeve caps, armholes, crotch line and the rounding of the hats by means of increases and decreases. The romper has a central button fastening. The plackets were likely knit together with the front panels or picked up along a finished edge; buttonholes were formed by yarnovers with subsequent knitting two stitches together. The puff sleeves gain volume by expanding the fabric and then easing in. Narrow ruffles were added along the armholes: stitches may have been picked up along the joining line, then sharply increased and bound off loosely. The crotch area is shaped to accommodate a diaper, after which the legs were separated and finished separately. The flowers are worked on top of the finished fabric as dimensional embroidery using the "rococo" or wrapped stitch technique. Yellow and orange wraps form raised rosettes, and the green leaves resemble separate looped stitches. The bonnet is knitted with an anatomical rounding at the back of the head and is finished with either i-cord or attached tie cords. Final steps include neatly weaving in ends, sewing on buttons, gentle wet-heat finishing and careful blocking of pieces without flattening the embroidery.

Материалы

  • Soft baby yarn in lilac: likely merino wool or a blend with acrylic, approximately 250–300 g
  • Yellow and orange yarn for dimensional embroidery of rosettes, about 10–15 g
  • Green yarn or embroidery floss for leaves, about 5 g
  • Circular or straight knitting needles approximately 2.5–3.0 mm
  • Double-pointed needles or magic loop technique for small circular parts
  • Matching buttons, approximately 8–10 pieces
  • Tapestry needle for assembly and embroidery
  • Contrasting waste yarn or stitch markers

Инструкции по уходу

Hand wash gently at 30 °C in a wool or baby knit detergent. Do not soak for long, do not rub the embroidery and do not wring. After rinsing gently press the set between terry towels, reshape to measurements and dry flat away from radiators and direct sunlight. Do not use chlorine bleach or tumble dry. If steaming is necessary, steam from the wrong side through a damp cloth without pressing the iron onto the raised rosettes. Store folded; check buttons, embroidery and ties regularly for security.
