For these pieces delicate washing, gentle steam/heat treatment without pressure and flat blocking to shape are especially important. Blocking is what turns a simply knitted lace fabric into a finished dressy shawl with a clear pattern architecture.

Hand wash only, gently, in cool water 20–30°C with a wool/mohair detergent. Do not rub, wring or soak for a long time. After washing gently press out through a towel, then lay flat to shape the shawl and block by the corners and points. Dry flat only, away from radiators and direct sunlight. Do not iron the fabric; if necessary use light steam from a distance. Store folded, not on a hanger, to avoid stretching.
