Vanilla knitted knee-highs with a lace stripe look soft, cozy and homely-elegant. For such items it is critical to maintain consistent gauge, especially when transitioning from pattern to stockinette, so the fabric does not pucker or flare. The shaping of the lower part is executed in a traditional way: the heel is worked separately with a subsequent gusset, after which the foot continues in stockinette and finishes with toe decreases. Around the toe there is a classic tapering, close to a wedge/strip style. Hand wash or use the delicate cycle at no more than 30 °C with a liquid wool detergent. Do not soak for long and avoid excessive rubbing of the heel and toe. After washing, gently press out through a towel without wringing. Dry flat only, shaping the leg, foot and lace panel. Do not dry on a radiator, in direct sunlight or hang to avoid stretching. If the yarn contains wool, store in a dry place, preferably with moth protection. If necessary, lightly steam through a cloth without pressing the iron onto the fabric.
