Marshmallow Roses 🌸

A delicate plush bouquet of roses in a marshmallow‑pink shade — a very tactile project that reads immediately as cozy home decor or a sweet gift. The voluminous buds are neatly shaped, petals lie in layers and create a beautiful bouquet head. The plush yarn holds shape well and gives an effect of “puffy” flowers, but there is sometimes a slight variation in density and the uniform shade makes the composition a bit less expressive.

The bouquet is crocheted from plush (chenille) yarn: it hides small imperfections but requires very even tension so the buds don’t vary in density. Each flower usually starts from a short base/tape: chain a foundation of chain stitches and work a row of single crochets or half double crochets to form a “ridge” that makes it convenient to gather the petal later. Then petals are formed by increases and taller stitches (half double crochet with yarn over, double crochet) so the petal edge widens and lies in a wave. The resulting strip is rolled into a spiral from the center outwards, securing the turns with slipstitches or hidden stitches using a needle and matching yarn. It is the evenness of the turns and frequency of securing that produce roses of consistent size. For the bouquet, buds are usually attached to stems (wire/skewers) and the base is covered with a calyx: you can crochet the calyx as a separate piece in green yarn using single crochets with decreases. Final assembly involves forming the bouquet “head”, evening the height of the buds and adding a slight pull at the center for neat petal placement.

Cleaning preferably dry (sticky lint roller/soft brush). If necessary — hand wash in cool water (up to 30°C) with a mild detergent, no soaking and no wringing. Press out through a towel, reshape the buds, dry flat away from heaters and sunlight. Do not iron or steam closely: plush can be compressed. Store in a box or vase, protecting from snags and dust.
